COMMENT| Jessica Chastain has shown that she's just a big kid at heart by jumping at the opportunity to star as 'Brave's' Princess Merida for a Disney advert.
This startling image was released yesterday and it's part of the latest advertisement campaign for the various Disney Parks across the globe.
The 36-year-old Academy Award nominated actress bears an uncanny resemblance to the Scottish princess, who was voiced by Kelly MacDonald and was the lead character in the 2012 fantasy epic, 'Brave.'
Chastain, who was widely praised for her startling turn in Kathryn Bigelow's 'Zero Dark Thirty' in the same year, was shot for the piece by famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz, and she clearly had a joyous time in her royal regalia as a sly smile can be seen emanating from her lips in the chosen image.
The ginger actress first sat atop a fake horse for her close-up before a real animal was brought in for the wide-shot, and she also donned renaissance style garments as well as allowing her magnificent fiery bouffant to extravagantly run wild! She also pulled back the bow and arrow like a pro too.
However, rather than travelling all the way to Scotland to authentically recreate 'Brave's' setting, the advert simply doubled Cold Spring, New York, as the Celtic country. Cheapskates.
Chastain isn't the only actress to have recreated an animated character for Annie Leibovitz's Disney Parks dream portraits advertisements. In the past Scarlett Johansson has dressed up as Cinderella, Jessica Biel as Pocahontas and even Jeff Bridges and Penelope Cruz starred as Beauty and the Beast in 2011 too. I'll let you work out which one was which for the latter.
Do you think Jessica Chastain was a convincing Princess Merida?
