After the huge success of 'The Wolverine' it looks as though Hugh Jackman might be hanging up his claws… as he reveals he's not sure about returning for the sequel.
That's right folks - everyone's favourite no-nonsense Marvel mutant will be getting another solo-movie. But Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine in all of his big-screen outings, isn't sure whether he's up for another adventure. But with the announcement of yet-another 'X-Men' movie, does this mean Wolverine won't be taking on Apocalypse?
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jackman revealed that he really isn't sure about coming back for a sequel to 'The Wolverine'. And that it would have to be pretty special for him to reach for his claws.
"I don't know whether or not I will do this next movie," he said. "I am really proud of [The Wolverine] and I am excited to develop something with Jim Mangold from the beginning because that is a great ride. That's exciting, to see what we come up with but I have a very high expectation of what it would need to be [for me to star in it] and if it doesn't reach those, I won't be doing it."
In his thirteen-year tenure as the grizzled Wolverine, Jackman has become synonymous with the role. Unlike his on-screen persona, we know he can't carry on forever… but will he really drop out with such an interesting future ahead for the 'X-Men' franchise?
Of course, these comments come days before Bryan Singer announced the all-new 'X-Men: Apocalypse' movie. But will Jackman stick to his guns? Or will he appear in the next X-Men film?
"No there is not [A script]," he said when asked about the Wolverine sequel. "But Jim Mangold and I were literally on the phone last night talking about ideas but there is no script and no writer yet so it's a way off."
It's currently unclear when 'the Wolverine' sequel will be slated for release… After all, it's very early in development. But with Fox's increasingly busy slate, it's likely to come after the new Apocalypse movie in 2016. And that could mean Jackman is up for another ensemble movie. Of course, for now we'll have to wait and see… but I can't help thinking he might want to stick around. At least until he's had the chance to tussle with the big guy himself.
