'Batman vs. Superman's' unveiling earlier this year immediately provoked comic-book fans to pick their dream cinematic line-up of villains and superheroes for the film, who they hope will appear alongside the iconic duo.
And now last week's announcement that Gal Godot would play Wonder Woman has only increased speculation over who might feature as 'Batman and Superman's' possible foe, or, more likely, foes.
Zack Snyder has allegedly considered the likes of Metallo and Lex Luthor, while Doomsday's name has also been thrown into the fray too.
But because this trifecta of characters are all firmly part of Superman's world, many superhero fans have begun to ponder if any Batman baddies will actually feature in the 'Man of Steel' follow-up at all.
Immediately after 'Batman vs Superman' was confirmed, most moviegoers' predicted that the pair would come up against one scoundrel from Batman's world, and another from Superman's universe.
But now Batman-News.com have reported, via their Facebook page, that, according to their source, 'Batman vs Superman' will indeed only feature Superman villains.
After being asked by one of their subscribers, "Has there been any mention on what villain may be in this film or is a strictly Batman/Superman throwdown?," Batman-On-Film.com responded, "There are 2 villains and they are Superman rogues."
The plethora of Lex Luthor and LexCorp Easter Eggs in 'Man Of Steel' means that he is almost certainly going to feature, but the other rascal seems very much up in the air. The fact that 'Batman vs Superman's' filming is set to begin in just two months means that the two characters should be confirmed very soon though.
Batman aficionados are likely to be unhappy at this decision, but they should remember that this film is still a 'Man of Steel' sequel; and DC creatives are bound to currently be working on expanding Batman's universe for futuristic Bruce Wayne adventures anyway.
