Batman vs. Superman: Michigan shoot gets $131 million budget

COMMENT | It looks as though production of 'Batman vs. Superman' is about to get underway in Michigan… with a budget of $131 million.
When it comes to DC's big-budget production, nothing could be bigger than a team-up between Batman and Superman. And with shooting due to begin in Michigan, it looks as though its $131 million budget is giving locals something to talk about. Not to mention the possibility of spotting Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck on location. But will Detroit be the new Gotham City?

According to The Inquisitr 'Batman vs. Superman' production is gearing up in Detroit, Michigan… and it won't be long before DC's finest go head-to-head on the streets of Motor City.
"Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and company are scheduled to spend several months in the Motor City," they explain. "And stimulate the economy with their presence."
And with a reported budget of $131 million it looks as though Detroit may be getting a much-needed boost.
"The shoot will take place in several locations, including the state-of-the-art Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac. Michelle Grinnell, public relations manager for the Michigan Film Office, says this is exciting for the state's film industry to have the likes of Henry Cavill come to work here."
"It's the film where Batman and Superman meet for the first time on the Big Screen," she rather helpfully explained… and it's certainly the biggest blockbuster to come to Michigan.

"Grinnell says this is the largest production to be filmed in Michigan to date, with a budget of $131 million. The previous record belonged to Oz: The Great And Powerful, which was filmed in the state in 2011."
Unlike 'Oz', it looks as though 'Batman vs. Superman' will be shooting on location - heading out on the streets of Detroit with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck suited and booted. But does this mean that Detroit will be doubling for Bruce Wayne's hometown of Gotham City?
The high budget certainly hints that they'll be spending quite some time in Detroit… but after the carnage witnessed at the end of 'Man of Steel' could the city represent Metropolis after its impromptu facelift? I can't help thinking that we'll be heading back to Gotham. At least, for a while. And Detroit would be a fine place to start.
Do you think Detroit will stand in for the hometown of the Dark Knight? Will we head to Gotham City in 'Batman vs. Superman'? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
