Chris Evans position as 'Captain America' might not be quite as secure as most moviegoers think.
A rumour has started to swirl across the Internet that the actor's incarnation of the superhero could be killed off, and it has even been suggested that he might be replaced after the impending 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.'
The entertainment blog Celebitchy has reported that Marvel have decided to kill off Evans' Captain America in "either 'Cap 2' or 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron'."
The publication made sure to note that these are only rumours at the moment, but the fact that they have developed just a few weeks ahead of the film's reshoots only adds further weight to the theory that all is not well with the sequel.
So what could be the reason for Evans supposed sacking?
Celebitchy has speculated that it's because the actor's poor attitude has caused a bit of turmoil on set, reporting, "Perhaps Chris Evans isn't so easy to work with as a 'whiny little bitch' (his words)."
Or maybe Marvel are simply looking to get some free publicity for 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' by suggesting that the follow-up's production is in strife even though they literally have no intention of getting rid of Evans.
It seems unlikely that Marvel would actually decide to remove Evans from their cinematic universe, especially considering that he has proven to be an incredibly popular choice as the beloved superhero and he has firmly established himself alongside the rest of The Avengers.
However, Marvel haven't been adverse to audacious creative decisions in the past and Ed Brubaker's Captain America series, which the films are based on, dealt with Rogers death as well as the emergence as Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier.
All will be revealed when 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is released on Friday March 28th.
